Study the Epistles daily with Pastor Rick

Did you know that there are 27 books in the new testament and 260 chapters total? The epistles or letters are Romans through Jude. The letters are to me the heart and soul of the new testament, tremendous spiritual growth can happen with the letters. There are 21 letters or books as we call them, they have a total of 121 chapters. So then if you read 1 chapter from the letters a day , you will read the letters ( Romans through Jude ) 3 times in one year!!  I am telling you this will bring spiritual growth to your life! So let's get started! We will start with Galatians chapter 1 and proceed. Each day I will have a  comment for each chapter. I encourage you to say a quick prayer first, and then ask God for wisdom and understanding, then be prepared to write in your Bible or mark in your electronics. Hey, you won't understand it all the first time and you might miss a day, just resume the next day , once we get back to Galatians it starts over again, just STAY at it !! If you have any questions please ! You can ask me at church, phone or email.

Listen! Once again! This will help you!-- guaranteed!!!

Peter greets the readers of this letter in verse 2   with “Grace to you and peace be multiplied.”

Now first of all, aren't you glad that God is a Multiplier!  He is a multiplier of our peace. The amplified version has a awesome description of what peace is,  "that spiritual peace to be realized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts.”

‭‭Wow!  Peace is “freedom from fears, agitating passions and moral conflict!"  Think about that!  Our Father God does not want us full of fear, tormented by agitating thoughts, and disturbed with moral dilemmas.  Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

‭‭

Folks, Our Father is truly on our side, and He truly desires us to walk in peace!

2018 was a year of great awakenings for me!  Early in the year I joined a group of pastors and leaders for a weekly Bible study. In this group we were encouraged to open up about our lives, our faults, our secrets, and then pray for each other.

James 5:16 says “Confess your sins (or faults) to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

I’ve learned a powerful truth from this group. “You are only as sick as your secrets.”  I know that our sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus. You might say "that’s enough, Rick."  It is enough, but James 5:16 is still there and for our benefit.  Folks, there’s just something powerful about speaking or confessing our faults.  I encourage you to pray about somebody being in your life that you can trust to talk to and be “real".  Pray about it!  God will bring you someone!

James 4:8 is a powerful verse that says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” or “ get close to God and he will get close to you!”

Folks, every day we have to make decision to seek God. There’s where the fight starts.  Our flesh or old nature does not want to.

I am just like you.  Many days I start thinking of all the things I need to do or want to do.  It seems like I just don’t have time to read my Bible and pray. I just don’t feel like iton top of that!  It does not say “draw close to me if you feel like it.”  No, I just open up my Bible and start reading or praising Him, and since I got close to Him, He gets close to me. I mean it’s like I am not wanting to, then all of sudden I am excited about God all over again!  All because I decided to get close to Him!  So let’s decide today to read our Bibles, and offer up thanksgiving and praise.  I promise He will draw close to you!!!!
