1 John 5

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous."

‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wow, what a comforting verse to remember.  His commandments are not grievous!  Grievous means burdensome, heavy, weighty.

I remember first learning this and how it helped me.  I've had a tendency to overthink and make things harder than they should be. 

Folks, the Gospel is good news!  Our Heavenly Father never intended for us to be weighed down with religious rules! 

So if you are weighed down, hey, it’s not Gods will!!!  Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
