Verse 16 is such a powerful verse, and one you should memorize by heart! "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ." So many of us, including myself, have failed to embrace this verse! We literally wear ourselves out trying to be good enough or righteous enough. We have to remember it's what Jesus did on the cross and faith in Him alone that wakes us righteous in His sight. See Titus 3:5, another great accompanying verse!
