2 Timothy 1

Did you know that 2 Timothy was the last book Paul wrote before his death? It is certainly one of my favorites!

“Therefore I remind you( to stir up )the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.” II Timothy 1:6

The word stir means to re-enkindle. When I was a child we would visit my grandpa on his farm, and I remember when it was cold ( they had no heat) he would come in the morning and put new logs on and then he would stir up the glowing hot embers at the bottom of the fireplace, and suddenly—whoosh, the logs starting burning. I will never forget that because it’s the same way with us in our spiritual lives. We might feel cold on the inside, but if we draw close to God by praising him, reading the Bible, and going to church—we are stirring the fire.

Sometimes we just don’t feel like it, but it always amazes me that when I sacrificialy seek him, I start to get excited again!

Hosea 10:12 says: “Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD!”
