2 Timothy 2

“And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient(25), in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,”

II Timothy 2:24-25.

I can’t count how many times I’ve quoted this verse to Christians. We are not to argue with people about Jesus! Do we really believe that by fussing and fighting we will convince them?

Notice the words gentle, patient and humility. This is how we need to speak to people. We should always be considerate and respectful when listening to others who may have a different view, even if they are wrong. Notice verse 26: “and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.”

We have to allow the Holy Spirit to show them the truth for themselves, and we can only do this by acting in love!!
