Study the Epistles daily with Pastor Rick

Did you know that there are 27 books in the new testament and 260 chapters total? The epistles or letters are Romans through Jude. The letters are to me the heart and soul of the new testament, tremendous spiritual growth can happen with the letters. There are 21 letters or books as we call them, they have a total of 121 chapters. So then if you read 1 chapter from the letters a day , you will read the letters ( Romans through Jude ) 3 times in one year!!  I am telling you this will bring spiritual growth to your life! So let's get started! We will start with Galatians chapter 1 and proceed. Each day I will have a  comment for each chapter. I encourage you to say a quick prayer first, and then ask God for wisdom and understanding, then be prepared to write in your Bible or mark in your electronics. Hey, you won't understand it all the first time and you might miss a day, just resume the next day , once we get back to Galatians it starts over again, just STAY at it !! If you have any questions please ! You can ask me at church, phone or email.

Listen! Once again! This will help you!-- guaranteed!!!

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous."

‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wow, what a comforting verse to remember.  His commandments are not grievous!  Grievous means burdensome, heavy, weighty.

I remember first learning this and how it helped me.  I've had a tendency to overthink and make things harder than they should be.

Folks, the Gospel is good news!  Our Heavenly Father never intended for us to be weighed down with religious rules!

So if you are weighed down, hey, it’s not Gods will!!!  Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

1 John 4:4 is a classic verse to me; one that we should all memorize and meditate on!

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” ‭‭ I have declared over my life and circumstances many times that “greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world “   When it speaks of “he that is in the world” the Bible is speaking of the devil. 2 Corinthians 4:4  identifies the devil as the “god of this world”. Please understand that there is a spiritual being known as satan who leads a demonic kingdom. John 10:10 says the thief (satan) comes to steal, kill and destroy. That’s the desire of satan for our lives and families, but Jesus has conquered the devil. Luke 10:19 says “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” When you receive Jesus into your life, the Holy Spirit actually enters your spirit, and because of that we is can truly say “the greater One lives in us”!!!

“Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.”

‭‭I John‬ ‭3:9 NKJ

You might have just stopped and said “Wow,  I sinned before I even got out of church!  To read that verse honestly is to ask, "am I really saved because I still unfortunately sin?"  So what’s up here?

This is why it’s so important when studying the Bible to look at other versions. Now let’s look at this same verse from the Amplified Bible.  “No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.”

‭‭

Yes, I occasionally still mess up (sin), but I don’t habitually or practice sin. You see, when a person gets born again, that desire to practice sin is replaced with a desire to please God. It’s actually a good thing that you feel bad about sin in your life.  That’s evidence of the work of the Holy Spirit in your heart. So what about the sin we commit? 1 John 1:7 says that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin!  Praise God - hallelujah!
